What is CHIP?
The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provides low-cost health coverage for children in Texas. It is a state and federally funded program designed to ensure that children from families who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but cannot afford private health insurance have access to essential healthcare services.
What Does CHIP Cover?
CHIP provides a wide range of health services, including:
Routine checkups
Vaccines
Doctor visits
Prescriptions
Dental and vision care
Emergency care
Hospital stays
Mental health services
Who is Eligible for CHIP?
To be eligible for CHIP, children must meet the following requirements:
Be a Texas resident.
Be under 19 years old.
Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
Have family income that is above the Medicaid level but at or below the CHIP income guidelines.
Not be eligible for or enrolled in other health insurance.

CHIP Income Limits
Your income is the money you get paid before taxes are taken out. Find your family size on the table below. If your monthly income is the same or less, your child might get CHIP.
